To watch the children progress over an
8 week period was a pleasure. Warriors
staff interacted and responded well
to the students. The whole concept
grasped the imagination of the students
and the staff learnt something
new as well
Education
This season we have developed our work experience
programme to give young people an opportunity to deliver a
real project encompassing all areas of the club. The initiative
is funded by the Warriors Foundation and our supporters.
Little Warriors……invade Sixways!
Little Warriors is a work experience programme that
was launched by the Warriors Foundation during the
2011/2012 season.
The programme is designed to address the current issues
surrounding work experience and the lack of focused
opportunity young people have to explore career paths.
Working with one school, the programme gave 20 young
people the opportunity to work with professional staff at
Sixways Stadium over an 8 week period culminating in the
delivery of an Aviva ‘A’ League match. The 8 week
programme was built into the student’s school day as
part of their timetable.
Students had to apply to be part of the project by completing
an application form for the area of the project that they
were most interested in pursuing. The areas covered were
marketing, media, fundraising, operations and hospitality. In
total, 30 students were interviewed with 20 positions being
offered and accepted. There were no drop outs over the
duration of the initiative.
The students delivered a match in week 7 which was held on
Wednesday 7th March, 2012 between Worcester Cavaliers
and The British Army.
Funds generated through gate donations at Aviva ‘A’ League
matches by supporters are re-invested into delivering this
work experience initiative.
